paypal going through as echeques??

I've been using ebay for a few years, with 100% feedback and always used a paypal account.
The last few times I have paid for something using paypal, it has gone through as an echeque, although i don't 'press' anything and cannot see why it is doing this.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can start to make instant payments with paypal again?
I'm verified on there and have never had any problems. If there is no money in my paypal account it is automatically taken from a bank account.
I'm very confused!
TIA

Has your bank card or credit card expired or been changed since you registered it? This can cause e-cheques to be used. Its a pain for both seller and buyer because they take ages to clear!0

No it hasn't; I'm really confused about it!
Good thought though; thanks

The theory is that echeques only happen when there's a problem with your primary funding source.
I'm not how fast payments go out if you're bank funded - perhaps you usually have funds in your pp account, so they're always instant? Now that you've used up your balance, the bank payments are slower... ?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
this happened to me and i realsied when i entered my new card i put the wrong expiry year duh me
however my boyfriend can only pay by e cheque for no reason we can see possible! paypal havnt replied to his mails so i buy things for him now0 -
Yes, I had this last week when paying for something. I have a bank acc and credit card linked in paypal, but it would not allow direct bank funding ( the option for this was greyed out and could not be selected ), only credit card or echeques - very strange - still I only use cc funding for payments.0
