you'll need an extra stick of 256mb memory then. I'll edit link to best buy when I find it.

EDIT: sounds like you have faulty memory in there already - the link you provided shows that model shipped with 512MB installed.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

798Mhz? were you running on battery? If so then I'm guessing speed step is enabled in the bios, this slows the cpu down when on battery to conserve power. Running on mains should give you more umph while you wait for your extra memory.0

a stick of memory?? is that like the usb ones? also yes it is running on battery

don't save stuff or have links on the desktop as these have to be cached and slow the computer down. Also if you go to start/run and type msconfig. Go to the last tab and remove all programs from statup that you don't need ie msn etc as these slow startup alot.0

the link you posted suggests that the laptop should come with 512Mb, but you're saying that you only have 256, do you still have the invoice that should tell you how much memory you should have.0

Was it a brand new laptop, is there any spec on the box/invoice about the amount of ram it should have? A certain company who shall remain nameless sometimes have a habit of repackaging returned/used stuff.
I couldn't get your links to work, but if it has 128meg of shared graphics, and only 256 in total, it will run like a dog.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
