Look carefully at the new defaults.

    The drop-search above tells you:
"By default this only searches for posts
in the past week. For a deeper search
    use the Advanced Search"

what it doesn't mention is that when you click through to the advanced search, it is defaulted to:
Find posts from a Week ago... and newer.
So you have to change that to any date.

Thanks i just realised this change-but i still dont think it is working
  • The search default is now set to seven days to reduce the overall search load on the servers. If you require to search for older posts, please enter the Advanced search and select a different time limit under the "find posts from" drop down box.

Sorry if this change has caused inconvenience but as we get bigger, searches require more resources and take more time. The seven day search, as a standard, should provide users with the most updated posts instantly; and the option is still available to do more thorough searches for those looking for past information.

The default advanced search also only looks in the titles.
You might need to change it to search the content of the postings as well.
