Hi guys, pretty new top the site and this question has probably been answered but as my comp is on a go slow, il post first.
After a guru who can help me, here goes....
Im currently unemployed due to redundancy 3 weeks ago and ive not long since moved in with my partner. We private rent a property and she works 30hrs a week.
Im 27 and shes 23 and have no children living with us. Im currently on JSA seeking work, however, what else are we entitled to as a couple? I know absolutely nothing about Benefits, tax benefits etc etc never had to look into it really. Ive asked at the Job Centre but nothing ever comes of it.
Thanks for your time folks, hopefully someone can shine a light.

You may be entitled to some housing benefit/ LHA and CTB, but they would take into account her income.
Enter your figures into a benefits calculator, they will give you an estimate of your entitlement.0 -
Also you will only get JSA for six months as you won't be eligible for income related.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I know absolutely nothing about Benefits, tax benefits etc etc
you may be entitled to Working Tax Credits and / or Housing Benefit,
WTC is a fone call to HMRC, HB (often called LHA) is your council.
best bet as mentioned it too put your details into a good benefit calculator, the better ones will tell you which benefits & give links to some too.
a quick google will give you a couple of good ones
as mentioned above your Job Seekers Allowance will only last 6months, there are two types of JSA, one based on your household income - ie your and your partners, and one based on your personal national insurance contributions over roughly the last couple of years.
the contributions one can be paid regardless of partners income but only lasts for 6months. the other 'income based' can run and run, but with a partner working 30hrs a week your income would be too high as a couple.0 -
How much does your partner earn?
How much is your rent?
Do either of you have savings, redundancy payout etc?0 -

Here's a link to the benefits calculator on MSE

This is the direct.gov.uk one:

and this is entitledto.co.uk

They should tell you what you can claim and usually how much aswell.
They don't take too long to fill out, and are pretty reliable, at least with what you can claim.
Hope that helps
