HeadSmart - Childhood Brain Tumour Awareness

I've been Money Tipped!
Just wanted to share this link about brain tumours in children for information really. I don't want to worry anyone - just to raise awareness.

Parents - please just spare a moment to watch the video and then if you want more information you can get it from the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. They also have cards / leaflets as shown in the video for you to share with schools etc

I've become involved because my mum died recently from a brain tumour which went undiagnosed for over 3 months - despite visiting various units / doctors etc and having various tests whilst showing all the 'classic signs' no one would entertain the idea of it being a tumour. In fact two different doctors told her not to be so silly when she asked them directly if it was a tumour.

I got a lot of help and information from SDBTT and it was there that I learnt just how many cases go undiagnosed every year - if I had a pound for every time a doctor told us they didn't diagnose mum's tumour because 'brain tumours are very rare' then I'd be rich (but still without my mum).

Apparently, doctors are even less inclined to consider a tumour when children are showing all the 'classic signs'.

Don't want to be a scaremonger, just want to spread the word of the HeadSmart awareness campaign - if it helps just one person then it'll be worth it.
:hello:

Thanks for the post. I was shocked to discover that a child has the same chance of developing a brain tumour as they do of contracting meningitis.

We defiantly need to raise awareness among parents so they can identify the symptoms

Here's a link to a leaflet HeadSmart publishes listing the symptoms
