Hi All
Hope someone can help!I clicked on Excel from the task bar menu and it asked me to activate my product, which I have been using for well over a year now! Anyway I put my product key in and it said it was not valid, why? Am I correct that I can install this Office suite on up to 3 machines at home? Think it may still be on an old laptop, do I have to uninstall before I install on another (my daughters not mine, as stated mine has been working/used for over a year now)
I then went into excel from my icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen and it worked fine.
However when I open a word template invoice document I created and try to enter an Excel block (? correct term!) that is in there it comes up with:
'The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has bot been deleted, moved, renamed, or blocked by policy'
Also the icons have changed when I try and open an excel doc from excel, they are now just oreange squares and not the green and white icon with an E in it, I have no idea what is going on, can anyone please help?
Thanks in advance

It sounds like the Office install is corrupt.
If you run the setup again, you should get a prompt to repair the install.0 -
Repaired and it works now, thanks Russell.
Can anyone answer this part please:

How many machines you can install on is determined by the licence you purchased. It's good practice to uninstall from an old machine before installing on a new one, although I don't think it's a requirement under the terms of the licence for Microsoft Office.
Also make sure the licence key you're using is the right one for the version of Office you're trying to install (e.g. An Office 2007 key will not work with Office 2010)How do I add a signature?0 -
To keep within the licensing terms, you should uninstall if you intend to use it on another PC.
It will work if you don't it's just not strictly legal!0 -
Have you bought it through the Home User Program(me)?
If so, it's a 2-machine licence.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
If it's from software for students, then it's 3 machines.0

I have done this before and it worked fine but now it keeps telling me my license is invalid.
I cannot now access my confirmation email as it was I used college email which is now closed as the course is finished. I assume I am still allowed to continue to use it though???
However my RM Education account just states that it was pruchased in June 2010.0 -
If it tells you the licence is invalid as soon as you've finished typing it in, double check that you've typed it correctly. How do I add a signature?0

Checked and double checked.
Tried to contact Microsoft but they say it's out of warranty and I would have to pay for them to even look into it!0
