DS has convinced himself that he has fluffed the exam he did this afternoon,so I have a very unhappy teenager tonight :(

Must be the day for it. DS came home today saying his exam was awful.

1 day to go. C4 tomorrow and then that is it. Why do they schedule a maths exam for an afternoon? I thought it was known that you perform in maths better in the morning.

Longish wait until 16th August, but they'll all make it to that point.

If all the students got everything right, there would be no way to distinguish between them. But usually at this stage, it's not the % mark that matters, but how they did compared to their peers. So things may be all alright when the results arrive.

Re afternoon Maths exam... all the Maths students will be sitting that module, in the afternoon. So morning or afternoon exam, it makes no odds as to their position againt the competition :)

All you can do, is to continue to support them :)

It must be the way I type because that wasn't the intention at all. I have just tutored my wife and DD through their Maths exams of which they have both received an A.

IT is scientifically proven, yes, but the point I was making is that the edge in the afternoon may give you 1-2%, but long term, it is your ability to work hard, concentrate and understand that determines how well you do in an exam.

I really am sorry if I offended. My intention is merely to point out that apportioning a high % of blame on exam timing isn't useful in the grand scheme. Most people have to work in the afternoon too. :A

EDIT - PS I often don't have the time to type long replies as I play online poker in the evenings and I'm often too busy to even type more than a few lines. I will try to alter my tone.

Apology accepted, perhaps a few smilies would help to prevent people taking your posts the wrong way :)

We will have to agree to disagree slightly though, whilst I agree that hard work and understanding will help you in exams, some people unfortunatley just aren't academic no matter how hard they work or try, it just isn't meant to be and the edge of the 1-2% can be a great deal to them.

May I ask, as you tutored your wife and DD, are you a teacher?

Any offence is not intentional, I'm really quite harmless :o

Can i ask what is the etiquette for sending mr Stampy to a new home? i mean ...you know what i mean ;)

does he like to go with his original transport envelope

    or a new one?

Some people like to steam it clean.

Can put a new ad label over the old one if the transport is still usable.
Back to square one, no apg, no comment.
