Was really annoyed earlier. My DS1 got himself a part time job at a swish Bistro/Cocktail bar as a waiter to help get a bit of money while he is doing his AS's and before the summer (last summer he had 3 part time jobs and was working 60 hrs per week).
This one was only paying £3.68 per hour:eek::eek:, which is the min wage for 16-17, but a good learning for him. He has done 4 weeks and still not been paid, promised over and over again he will be, despite phoning and chasing. He went away last weekend and really needed the money so DH lent it him. I have called for the last 3 days and been promised the owner would call back and he hasn't. I thought we would have to take him to the small claims court. This was the less violent option to what DH had in mind:o
Anyway despite being told he was not there this evening, I drove DS and he called in, he has been given half his money in cash and told he would be paid the rest at the end of the month. Suffice to say he is not going back and looking for something else. But this made me so mad, its such a poncey place and charges a fortune for 'tapas' a few bits on a plate and overprice booze. They only want to pay min wage and then still don't pay them
I have a good mind to go to the local paper and let people know what sort of establishment they are giving their money to.
Feel much better for being on here for a couple of hours and now getting that off my chest. Thanks:o
I would tell the employer you are going to have a word with the TAX man, bet they will pay up quick thenI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I was told that chickenpox is most contageouse before the spots are fomed and crusted over. My daughter had one spot for two weeks. I thought it was odd and took her to the Dr 'cos the spot was more like a water blister than just a bite or normal spot. The Dr told me they thought it could be but were unsure as one spot for two weeks was unusual. The next day she was covered. I phoned the school and asked if she should be kept off and they told me that she should not as it could last for three of four week which was too much time off school. What they did do was send out a message to all parents to advise that a case of chicken pox had been reported. Other than that they advised me to carry on as normal (I didn't, I refused playdates and meet ups until the spots had pretty much gone). I just wanted to add this note so you know that there is conflicting adivce out there and sometimes they advise parents to continue as normal, although they may come in to contact with risk groups. Just a point to note...
Hi all, my dd who's just got over chicken pox aged 19 was really ill with it, i phoned the gp just for advice to make sure i was doing the right thing for her and the advice i was given was, she was contageouse before the spots appear and would remain contageouse till the last spot crusted over, and the main thing was to keep away from any pregnant woman. They also said it would be best to stay in, which was easy as she felt to ill to go out. It's been about 3 weeks since all the spots have gone, but she has not felt completly 100% since, they say "the older you are the worst that you feel".Normally she is well and if people have contageous things she the one that never gets it, not this time:(0 -

The day I first met Lala in T's by accident I just knew it was her she was exactly how she is on here, I'll never forget the way she scanned that sparkly beret, it couldn't have been anyone else0 -

That's dreadful! If you don't get the rest of his wages try ACAS. He should also be due a share of the tips.
My youngest has a student job at McD's and from our experience he's treated well and the pay is good - poss worth a try?0 -
