My best friend and her husband are both tax inspectors and they told me that the Inland revenue employ people to check newspapers for the small ads, Ebay....and even send them to car boot sales. (where I wonder if they take down number plates of anyone selling lots of the same stuff?)
They also check newsagents windows etc for people advertising gardening services, cleaning etc.
I would be very wary of trying to get a little tax free sideline going...chances are you are going to get caught eventually
I think few users of this site do the odd carboot or two.
I've seen a chap selling Tesco items at Whitchurch, Bristol bootsale & a lady at Burnham On Sea Rugby Club bootsale. Hello?
I would think that the time taken/revenue gained would mean that looking around bootsales for HMRC would be a poor use of their time.0 -

He kept telling me to listen, I got nasty and called him scum.
The same 'company' have called me many times over the last few weeks and I have always remained polite but today I got angry. It's older people and those who are could fall for the scam I feel sorry for.
I play along with these people, I use my fake old lady voice and pretend to be deaf and get them to repeat and "misunderstand" what they say, then I tell them about "her" next door, usually when I start on about the baby Jesus they put the phone down0 -
Amazing car....looks so nice.
My personal all time favourite car is the Ferrari 330 P4:
Can't quite believe it's got 450 bhp.
I find it amazing that they could build such beautiful cars in the mid 1960s.
250 GTO for me.
Cars in the 60's were designed by artists not computers. there are very few modern cars which realy 'do it' for me I'm afraid.
The new jag xk sport is rather nice though and has abolutely perfect proportions. Not a line or curve out of place anywhere on it!0 -
ventured in to the city to Mr A's this morning. Managed to get 4 trays after asking at bakery.
Also got overcharged on A's 3 pack cat milk. should be £1.35, charged £1.48. Had to ask for gift card but got it. Might be the same in other stores.
Wombled a receipt as well so not a bad shop.
Out of interest where are you finding the make a meal stuff at T's? tried 3 stores and not seen any! Many thanks.0 -

Thanks mags, and yes that does sound familiar!:rotfl:
But I do enjoy it, especially when I can combine my love of recycling and glitching too! Half the stuff we are using was either free or a glitch that you wonderful MSErs have found!
Bagged up lots of 1p halloween sweets for the christmas fair last year. Kids got a bargain and we still made a profit too, so win/win!
Have lots of winegums for prizes and disney princess stockings and 2p christmas wrapping paper ready for next years christmas fair too!
The 100 rings I made today, the bases were bought with the £5 ebay voucher a while back, ive just been buying resin flatbacks from china for pennies and hot glued them on today. The boxes Im making for the rings are even based on instructions by someone on here at christmas time, for reusing christmas cards...but im using colourful post-it notes and scraps of paper this time.
I even feel like listing MSE and the 11+ thread on our flyer where we say which businesses and individuals have supported us with donations!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Using taxpayers money to ensure taxes are paid is a waste of time? Thats an interesting opinion!!
If i didnt give up my right to voice an opinion when i started wombling then i would have disagreed with you on this.
Surely its a case of getting the most bang for the taxpayers buck.
Ensuring Amazon pay the tax they should will have more effect than going after someone making & selling a few birthday cakes for people.

Hope I didnt look like I was blowing my own trumpet! Just trying to be more 'chatty' on here like the rest of you guys.
Problem is, I dont get out much, my time being taken up with PTA stuff and caring for my mum, so thats mainly all I can chat about:rotfl:
Everytime I make something though, my DD6 wants one, she hasnt got the idea of fundraising yet!
If I have the time, I might even try and post a few pics up of the rings and stuff, but need to find HC dummies guide for that!;)0 -
