    Clydesdale. Most stubborn, old fashioned bank I've come across. Friendly branch staff though....

    I have 2 defaults from 5 years ago (one paid off, one estimated to be paid off in 6 months). I have no current credit cards or loans.

    I applied for Cap One, Vanquis and Barclaycard Initial in the last month.

    Capital One gave me a Progress Card with a £500 limit.

    Vanquis rejected me (tho I was trying to get it through a topcashback offer)

    Barclays did the annoying you have been pre-approved, just send us 2 forms of ID and we will send you a card .... then rejected me.

    Are Barclaycard still doing this? It's getting to be a long term policy of theirs now! I am glad I applied for my Barclaycard over a decade ago when I just started at uni, as it seems getting a decent card from them is quite difficult.

    In all honesty, i'd cancel them if it wasn't for the cashback deal I have. Their call centre in India is just so very frustrating. It costs them £10 each time for my phone call when I don't get the service I expect. You'd think they'd do something about it... but alas, not.

    I think this thread is a really good idea and I will be paying close attention (just to be nosey and see where the products I have end up).

    AmEx is for rich people though?

    I was accepted for an Amex card (admittedly the basic "rewards" one) aged 19 earning £3.5kpa (part time)... it's examples like this that make these threads very difficult to compile.

    True, and I've been rejected from them despite having no adverse credit history, several successfully-run credit accounts in the last 8 years and a salary of £30k.

    For me I presume it is the amount of available credit I have, as I only have about £4000 on existing cards which is hardly huge compared to salary. All conjecture, who knows how credit scoring works?!

    3/4 Months ago i had never had credit before, i applied for the Capital One Classic and got accepted with a £300 limit, refused for a Vanquis and more recently i have been accepted for an Aqua card. Not sure of limit as waiting on the card arriving.

    I haven't had any CC since 10/2009. I am banking with Lloyds and used to have their credit card with £500 limit. I am on electoral list, have 1 loan, 2 mobile contracts, used to have car hire purchase. My credit history is clear (all green), checked Equifax, Experian and Noddle. My income £18000 or £19500 with pension and shares.
    November 2011 I've got accepted for:
    Capital One Classic £500 -> £1000 (March 2012)
    Barclaycard Initial £400 -> £1400 (May 2012)
    May/June 2012:
    Lloyds Avios Duo American Express/Mastercard £2500
    bmi/MBNA American Express/Visa £1800
    Halifax Clarity £2300

    My wife has 5 late payments (2 from 2010 and 3 from 2011), join loan, one previous hire purchase, next, very, etc. Works part time and earns £8000 pa.
    November 2011:
    Capital One Classic £400 -> £800 (June 2012)
    Barclaycard Initial rejected
    June 2012:
    bmi/MBNA American Express/Visa £800 limit
    Santander 123 declined
