How to clean an enamel Bath?

I was changing the taps on my bath and had a load of rusty water sitting in the bath and its left an awful stain! I tried cillit bang but that didn`t work so i filled the bath with a bleach solution in desperation and again that didn`t work. Can anyone help before my wife cuts my proverbials off!!!!

    Hi

Cillit bang will probably have destroyed the enamel. I think you might lose your proverbials. Read the bottle.
Ciff cream on a VILEDA scouring pad NOT any other scouring pad works for me.

My enamel is pretty bad, as it's an old bath. Whither this is good for newer baths I don't know, but I find a steamer makes a very good job of cleaning my bath once in a while.

There are rush removers that may work but again may damage the enamel.

tin of bath enamel and just redo it ??
  • One of the most effective ways to clean/refurb an old enamel bath is to T-Cut it and then give it a polish with some hard (not the soft, Turtlewax sort of stuff) automotive wax.

For the uninitiated, T-Cut is the very, very fine abrasive creamy stuff sold for taking the oxidation off car paintwork before the car gets polished.

It'll take you a couple of hours to do it properly, and you'll have sore arms, but the results will be worth it!
