  • You can find a RICS Surveyor here (various firms seem to offer either the Home Buyer's Report, the full structural building survey or both):

  • Albeit not Worcestershire but Gloucestershire, I am sure that Abels Surveyors 01453 887300 will be able to help.

Don't buy a RICS Homebuyer survey. Let the mortgage company do their valuation survey and then privately get a full structural survey (now known as a building survey):

Adrian Powell of Victor Powell Estate Agents in Bromsgrove, Worcs is very reliable and he has been used by the whole family when they have bought property. You don't have to buy a house from them to use his services.

TBH you shouldn't have a survey done by a surveyor who works for the selling agent. That's a a potential conflict of interest IMHO.

He is an independant surveyor (the firm is the family firm) he did the survey on the house that my parents are buying which is being bought from a totally different EA so therefore no conflict of interest. There was no way that we were going to use the EA's own surveyor instead preferring Adrian Powell as he has done surveys for us in the past. He is very thorough and will even venture into the loft (some tend not to).

I wanted to clarify to future readers that;-
You don't have to buy a house from them to use his services
no-one should use the selling agent to carry out a survey on the property they are buying via that agent.

Which is where a potential conflict of interest could exist.

If you'd said "use his services when buying via a different agent" I wouldn't have posted. The way you phrased what you did could be interpreted that it's normal to have a survey done by the selling agent, but this surveyor will do reports on properties they aren't selling.

Hence the bold of the sentence I was addressing. I understood the earlier part of your post. ;)
