    Its not just the taste, its the animal welfare aspect too. Cheap chickens never see the light of day and eat nothing natural. Their legs are barely strong enough to hold them up(hence the amount of fat in the meat as mentioned by mapryan). The litter is not changed for the short life of the bird.

    I'm not an animal rights person and don't know the whole story but I can taste the difference and feel the difference in meat texture as I chew. I suppose it goes, "you know that chicken I'm selling, well, I can give you more money off, the more I make them suffer. As long as you don't want to know and I don't tell, we'll all be happy".
