Im new to site so may not be in right forum but please bare with me.
I have been off sick for 5 weeks now [ dr fit note as proof] and one of my clients sent a txt saying she now has another cleaner and wanted her key back.
As I was given the job via another client so no contract was drawn up am I right in assuming I would not be entitled to any form of compensation?
A phone call would have been nice.

If you are self employed and have lost a client due to your inability to fulfill the contract with the client and that client chooses to go elsewhere then that is life. Clients come and clients go and as you are self employed and therefore invoicing the client then you are not their direct employee and therefore not subject to redundancy payments. A client can choose to place their business with whomever they want - you were unavailable so the client has chosen to utilise the services of a new cleaner. I would be inclined to return the key and not get nasty about it - take it on the chin and move on.0
