Small animal food bowls

I'm sure people have thought of this before but I thought I'd post it anyway.
If like me you are a chocolate addict and have tonnes of those glass ramakin dishes that you get from things like the Gu mousse desserts, they make really great food bowls for small animals. My hamster cage came with a tiny plastic thing and I was going to buy one until I realised that Gu dish would be perfect

I used these for my rats when they had mushy meals like a bit of tuna or similar. However, it's great environmental enrichment to make small furries hunt for their food so consider scattering his food around in the litter of his cage (avoid his toileting areas of course) to keep him mentally and physically occupied. My rats had fleece down on most of their cage (littertrained to use trays in set places) but I had a cat littertray on one level that I filled with bedding and scattered their meals into and they had great fun rifling through it to hunt down every last scrap.0

The glass dishes are harder for them to tip over too due to the weight

Yeah I do this a bit too!
Also, yesterday I tore six long strips of paper and plaited them together and inbetween the pairs of strips I plaited food in, and hung it from the top of the cage... he spent hours nibbling at it to get the food out! I'm really enjoying finding fun, cheap ways to entertain him
