There's a link to order your £2 report on the Experian homepage.

The 30-day free trial of our credit report monitoring service is usually only available to new customers. If you haven't managed to access your report through the promotion - and sorry to those who have experienced problems - then our call centre should be able to help you set up your free trial. There's a contact us link on every page.

I was with you for around 5 years and then cancelled due to nothing much going on. Decided a few months later to come back but you want £15.00 per month now. I have declined and gone with Equifax.

    These people control our lives.
Not if you plan properly they dont.
The case here is you are expecting something done in real time whereas it doesn't work like that in ANY financial company.
Batch updates are sent monthly to CRAs.
You are simply throwing your toys out the pram because the world doesn't work how you like.
How about starting to plan yor finances properly?

P.S I don't work in finance, so don't give me that rant (the fall back for those who've lost the argument already). However I do understand that the real world doesn't revolve around me and manage to fit in with it mostly.

    Sorry you have misunderstood.

It is now nearly 6 weeks since the last updates were done according to the "last update" date on my file. In the meantime I am sat here twiddling my thumbs having settled my CC accounts in early May and not wanting to run them up again. If the updates are supposed to be done monthly why do they not do them monthly??. They are certainly controlling mine at the moment!!

Experian were merely checking that you were who you said you are.

You'd be angry if they gave out your details to someone else, right?

So right. The newbie would then be moaning and groaning and the spouting off about compensation for stress and can not work for the rest of their life.

    No I haven't.
You should make sure your file is as you want BEFORE you apply for new credit.
It's not your place to demand the timescales that things are done in.

If it was 12 months then I would agree with you there is an issue, but 6 weeks when we've had 3 bank holidays is not anything out of the ordinary.
Perhaps you should understand how it works first, before complaining that it's not working.

What have you done about it?
    Have you researched your rights?
    Have you formally complained?
    What responses did you get?
I am not aware that anyone is obliged to update monthly, but perhaps if you've done some research you can let us all know what your entitled to with a link.

I would personally start with finding out my rights and what level of service I am entitled to before complaining that there is a problem.

    Have you done that?

    Yes

And that is exactly what I am doing. I monitor all 3 cras online. I want to get everything straight before I apply. But i need to apply asap. I had factored in a months wait for the updates.

They have a maximum of 28 days to address complaints but they try to do them quicker

I have formally complained both to Nationwide and experian(twice). Nationwide say it is down to experian.

Updates are sent automatically monthly from the lenders. Lenders can manually add or remove late markers but balances are in the hands of the computer. Each cra seems to have different timescales for dealing with them

I have as yet had no response from experian apart from an acknowledgement of complaint.

If I was overdue in settling an account they would be soon on the case to dole out a black mark wouldnt they?? Surely they shouldapply the same criteria when the boot ison the other foot??

    Right here's an update!

Experian have at last updated most of my file and put a notice of correction on the incorrect Nationwide overdraft entry which Nationwide have still continued to ignore. It now looks very healthy.

Applied for loan with nationwide last night. Passed all the initial criteria age income home ownership saving history with them etc but on investigating further they would not even accept the application.

More info in my related post in the "loans" section of this forum if anyone is interested!!

It is very well hidden; I can't find it at all. The whole page seems geared to your 'free' credit report. I can't access this as it'll cost me a staggering £14.99 a month having taken advantage of your offer many, many years ago.

For the first time since starting a DMP in 2005, I paid Equifax £2 to check my file, as I have made my last payment and am now debt-free. However the last 2 payments I made haven't shown up on file yet.
My penultimate payment was on the 10th May and my final payment was right at the end of May. However the bank I'm paying to via a DCA (Lloyds) seems to update to Equifax on the 14th of each month, and it appears that the DCA doesn't update Lloyds on payments received until a few days after they get paid. So according to Equifax I'm still in arrears. I'll have to try again in another month or so.
I've also been on the phone to a CC provider this morning to get them to remove a long-defunct CC with zero balance but a large credit limit from their notifications to Equifax. It seems advisable to keep an eye on this stuff!
