Roofer or Chimney Sweep for chimney cowl

Does anyone know whether it's better to get a roofer or a chimney sweep to advise on the most appropriate chimney cowl and fit it?
If we used a chimney sweep it would be someone from the Master Guild/NACS. I would just like to make sure we get someone with the right expertise and am unsure as to whether this would be a roofer or a sweep.
Thanks.

I would say a sweep is the best option for you.
He will have a better understanding of the set up ( what fire you have, set up of the flue, local prevailing winds etc) and be better at advising you on your options.
The amount of times my guys have been out to properties and the customer had recently had a new roof , or loft extension done, to find that the builders had fitted the wrong cowl for the appliance they were currently using , is amazing.
They went out one time to fit a fireplace and fire and the builders had knocked the stack down and put all the rubble into the flue, then built a new stack on top ! The guys, after opening up the chamber in the room, found a tonne of loose bricks and rubble from the chamber to the start of the new stack ! and this was NHBC passed.
Defo a sweep IMO0 -
When I had my chimneys capped it was done by a registered chimney sweeper. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
