Aqua credit limit increase link

Hi all,

I have had my account with Aqua for just a tad over 2 years. My last increase was one and a half years ago (automatic increase from £450 to £700).
I have never missed nor made a late payment on this account and was wondering what my chances of getting a limit increase if I apply via their on-line credit limit increase link on the accounts page.

I was told by an Aqua customer service rep a couple months ago that they go on the last 6 months conduct of the account and that she see's no negativity issues with my conduct in that period.
I have gone close to the limit in the last few months deliberately (95% of the limit) in the attempt that they may see that I am utilising the existing limit and issue me with an automatic increase, but no joy.
I have brought down the balance in the last couple of months to about 50 - 60% of the limit.

Has anybody applied via the increase credit limit link on their Aqua on-line account page? and if so what limits have you put in? and what responses have you received? What was you balance to limit ratio when you applied?

Many Thanks

I am thinking of trying it but it would be good to find other peoples experiences of whether its worth it, or just there for show since Aqua moved over to Progressive credit.

I have had the link showing up on my account since I got the card over 2 years now.

The Customer Service rep I spoke to at Aqua said that they very rarely give automatic increases any more due to the current economic climate and that is why it's customers need to put in the request for the increase.

I am going to apply for an increase via this link in a couple of weeks when my next statement is produced.

I will post the outcome on this thread.

Hope more people will post their experiences when using this link before I apply so that I can gauge Aqua's limit tolerances.

I've had an similar situation with Barlaycard Initial. Cap1 increased my limit without asking for, but BC needed me to click on the link. I've had a limit of £400 and wanted it to be increased to £1500, but they increased is only up to £1400. It takes less than a minute to do. Don't worry and go for it :)

How long did you have the Barclaycard Initial card?
What was your balance compared to the £400 limit when you clicked on the limit increase link?

    Thanks

Just tried the link a couple of hours ago.

As stated in my original post, my credit limit was £700 and requested it to be raised to £1500.

Just received an email saying that unfortunetly they could not increase the limit to my requested £1500 but have increase it by £250 to £950 effective immediate.

I asked for the huge increase as I thought they may have seen that I had not been given an increase in over one and a half years of good conduct.

Well at least it was not a decline outright I suppose.

I received an automatic increase letter last month, so didn't use the link in the end. The increase should be effective around the 19th July from £500 to £700 so will see if it happens as some people have apparently got the letter but then not the increase.

How long have you had the Aqua account and how long have you been at the £500 credit limit?

Give the bank a teaser every once in a while, a lot of people pay off their credit cards at the end of the month giving the bank zero in interest for using their money. Let them take a few quid’s worth a month, keeps them happy. :)

For example, I set my friend up with a Barclaycard last April, and he started off with only making his minimum payments a month (something like £15) until I told him that was silly because of the £10 a month interest he is paying, but it worked in his favour as the bank increased his limit to £1000 in 6 months! :D But then he begun to pay off in full just like me and they haven’t offered him an increase since.

I have always carried a balance on the Aqua card, paying the minimum always with an extra payment on top matching the minimum payment.
I have never paid the balance off in its entirety in over 2 years of having the card.

My last increase was over 1 and a half years ago following this logic, no increase.

Thats why I had to apply myself via the increase limit link resulting in the £250 increase.

Barclaycard are much more forthcoming with their limit increases than Aqua, who hardly ever give routine increase any more.
