Halifax mortgage PPI

Hi,

Now Im not sure if I should even think I can claim...

Back in 1997 I got a mortgage with halifax and was advised to have job/redundancy/sickness insurance. Is this classed as PPI. I did take it out and it ran for 3 years till I cancelled it as I didnt think it was worthwhile.

Thoughts please?

Thanks.

Excellent. You have verified you were not mis-sold in that one sentence.

Halifax have been auto paying out on many PPI complaints.

You would not get a complaint upheld on the basis of what you have said. It would required another reason or be auto payout.

    Hi
when re-mortgaging our house in 2006 we then received the following:

'Whilst reviewing your application I was wondering what arrangements you have made to ensure you can continue to pay yur mortgage if you lose your income. Its not something any of us like to think about but its very important.

We recommend that you arrange protection not only for your home and its contents, but also to protect yourself in case of accident, sickness, unemployment or death.'

Then they go on to tell us about their services etc. Would there be any point in pursuing a claim in this instance? From memory I remember the lady telling us we had to get some form of protection although this is not written down anywhere.

    Many thanks for reading

Nothing wrong with what you have written there.

What is written down suggests otherwise. Documentation trumps verbal allegation.

    Many thanks for replying dunstonh

So what your're saying is that they followed the correct procedure in informing of this insurance and ultimately it was down to us whether we chose to go ahead with it.

Yes. They informed you and the wording is clearly indicating option but recommended. They gave you a choice.
