London Zoo - Any hints & tips???

Hi all,
Am planning a trip to London Zoo in a couple of weeks & was wondering if anyone had any useful hints or tips, as i've never been before.

Am going to use Tesco Days Out Reward Tokens to cover entrance fee...... Anyone know if you just queue up as usual when using these????

All useful info appreciated!

Never been to London Zoo but have used Tesco Rewards Tokens before elsewhere. You'll need to queue up as normal and hand over the tokens as full / part payment (they should state the value on them once tesco send them).

We went in October Half Term to the Zoo using Clubcard vouchers. You have to Queue with the general public as the fast track system wont allow Tesco vouchers. It was busy that Tuesday but we only queued about 30 minutes. They also get you to pose for a family photo whilst queuing and you can buy this on your way out/home at the exit. It was £15 for a portfolio of pics with various logos backgrounds. I chose not to take it as my eyes were closed and I looked rubbish lol.

We got off at Regents Park tube station and walked through the park. it was a 30-45 minute walk with 2 children under 7. The weather was okay too. I know that you can get the bus from the tube station also but dont know which one. I also know that you can park your car near the zoo but dont know how much or spaces. We went by train from Yorkshire.

I advise to take a picnic and several drinks. There are ample benches, a picinc area and grass areas to eat, if the weather is sunny or dry. There is a restuarant which also contains the gift shop but we didnt eat in there so no idea of the prices but as with anything it will be tourist prices. There is a lot to see, so the earlier you arrive the better. Dont forget to go over the road to see the Giraffes,Otters and massive bird avairy.

My highlights include; the Aquaruim, the Gorillas (from the ZSL tv show), the bug house and the penguins!

When I went 25 yrs ago there used to be Elephants in the Camel enclosure but they have now moved to Whipsnade.

Have a great Day. Do buy a Zoo guide! well worth the money.

I've just been, bought an internet ticket so no queuing for me. Don't know if it's the wrong time but the lions and tigers were asleep for the whole time I was there.

I agree the Gorillas were good fun, they like playing with each other.

There is a big cafe that sells ice cream.

There is a big play area with a bouncy castle if you're taking the kids and lots of grass to sit down and relax.

    Thanks everyone!
We went last Sat & had a great day, weather was dry so an added bonus!
We walked through Regents Park from the tube, but on leaving got a bus to Baker Street (very well signposted from exit) as had a very tired 5 year old!
There were no queues at the entrance & using the clubcard reqard vouchers to pay was straigt forward.
We too took picnic & there were plenty of places to eat. Food seemed to be 'touristy' prices that i saw, & coffees weren't cheap! Neither were icecreams, but we had budgeted for these.
All-in-all a great day out that the kids haven't stopped talking about!
