Am single adult with 1 kiddie at the age of 6, we spend £30 pw, its really just about being sensible.
  • By using coupons, deliberately stocking up when there's a great deal so I don't pay full price when I'm desperate for something, I'm able to by a household of 2 adults' food, toiletries and cleaning and washing items for about £40-50 a week. This includes fresh fruit and veg once a week from our local grocers which is a million miles better, stupidly cheaper and lasts longer than supermarkets.

Secret is to invest when you have money, which stops you wasting money on full-price items when you're desperate and will pay anything.

Second secret is to 'learn' your local shops and go when they've an offer on a particular item. E.g. I'll do a shop of just toothpaste or just laundry detergent when I know it's a good offer, and buy perhaps 6-12 month's worth for usually half the price or more, especially with coupons.

We spend £200 a month and theres 5 of us (2 adults 2 5 year olds and a 3 year old who eats more than me) we eat really well and have more than the recommended 5 portions of fruit and veg a day (altho many on here would cliam this isn't needed anyway).

I cook most of our meals and buy alot of reduced items, and i stock up when thinsg are of offer, i've been know to buy a years supply of beans or pasta in one go.

This included cleaninga nd smellies aswell, with the exception of my toothpaste which costs £8 on it's own but as i find it helps my teeth it's worth every penny.

For us this budget is set by choice, we made the choice to try build a hosue with no mortgage or debt, however we won't have our kids suffer for that choice and they still eat well and healthy, i could do it for half that if i didn't insist on alot of fruit and milk. it's all in the planning.

£50 PW for us - and sometimes less. Two adults two teenagers, large dog. This doesn't include toiletries. We used to spend nearer £100 pw but I have managed to half it by buying yellow stickers, cooking from scratch, and being very organised. We actually eat really well on a £50 budget. Do you like cooking OP?

    We spent around £450 - £550 a month (inc coupons) - 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids 8,6,3 and two cats).

We stock up on offers and use coupons where possible. I have far too much in store and I am trying to get this down and also only buy what we will eat. We have stocked up on things to try and then find that actually we don't like some so I try not to do this much now.

We buy pouches for the cats on offer and have managed to switch them from premium branded dryfood to Lidl's premium brand which is great quality but much cheaper. I class that as a major success as they are very fussy!

I do buy too much and we also keep stocked up on wine, beer and bottled beer too. Although I only buy at good prices.

I really want to spend much much less but I like shopping and it gives me a bit of time out - which is mad. If it is raining then I go shopping but if it is dry I go running - better for me and cheaper!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

£300 a month for 4 adults. (This also includes cat food/litter, toiletries and other household bits.)

I don't buy loads of different cleaning products. Soapy water cleans up most things fine and I have soda crystals, bicarb and white vinegar for more stubborn marks.
I stock up on toilet rolls and kitchen towels when they're on offer at Lidl's which is about once a month.

I buy all my meat from the butcher at the start of the month they do a £20 bbq pack which has steak, chicken legs, pork chops, lamb chops, HM sausages and HM burgers which easily does us 3 weeks then I buy 2 whole chickens and cheap deals or have veggie the rest of the time my average monthly bill is about £100 for me and dd which is about £25 a week not including toiletries but I buy all those on deals where I can. I think that's not bad in the summer I spend less in the summer once my allotment starts producing stuff proberbly goes down to about £20 a week.

Thank you however it doesn't take much effort now, we used to have alot less money and live off alot less so we find this easy enought, we eat well and even go to m&s from time to time, we found a nice butchers but as it's abit for a drive me buy lots at once.

I find we spend more in summer, it's all thos ice creams i think :rotfl: no seriously i think in winter your happy to eat some comfort food which is generally cheaper anyway. this summer should be cheaper for us tho as we have loads of berries and veg growning and i will e pinching apples, pears and cherrys from fil tree's so really our fruit shop will be knocked down to bananas and grapes.
