building regs - shaver point in bathroom

just wondering if there are specifc building regs relating to shaver sockets near toliets (not baths) as ours has been installed on the opposite wall from the bath itself (so no nway can it fall in) but is only about 25cm to the right of the toilet pan
potentially if dropped the razor could end up underwater whilst still plugged in - although it would have to have a reasonably long lead to do so and fall at at angle that did not naturally tug it out of the socket so not the most high risk thing in the world as far as I'm concerned but I'd still like to know the rules

A shaver socket contains an isolation transformer - So whilst the mains in the house is linked back to Earth and therefore plumbing and water etc in the house and can complete a circuit through it.
The supply from a shaver socket is not, its been isolated specifically for this reason. In theory you could stick one finger in the shaver socket and the other in a bath of water and not feel a thing (but I wouldn't put it to the test just in case its faulty - unlikely though!)
The only way to get a shock from a shaver socket is to touch both the sockets contacts and even getting an appliance wet is unlikely to bring about that situation.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Of course, while everything that sillygoose says is true, the simple act of closing the toilet pan cover would prevent any such problem from occurring in the first place.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
most shaver sockets are above a sink which equally could be full of water so not sure what the problem is (other than being really unlucky and dropping it in while holding onto it while still shaving!)
