Lg Dm2780D monitor horizontal lines problem.

I have bought a LG DM2780D 3d tv/monitor and I have horizontal lines showing in the background, especially on light colours.
Some people have returned the monitor because of that, and others have said that they weren't getting those lines.
I started to link the pc to the monitor with the provided VGA cable, those lines were there, so I bought a DVI to HDMI cable to see whether it would solve the problem but it didn't. The lines were still there.
Other than that, the picture look nice and sharp at 1920X1080 resolution, and there are a lot of settings to play with.
I am wondering if there aren't a particular setting that would make those line vanished, I have changed a few things but there are some settings I don't really want to touch as I don't know what it does.
So far I haven't found a way to get rid of them
Has anyone had the same problem, and found a solution, or is there a website explaining the right settings to get rid of those lines?

    From an Amazon review:
The only negative to note is that you can see the faint horizontal lines of the FPR filter if you sit too close, but I can honestly say that has never bothered me.

I find a bit strange that some people seem to see the lines more than others. I am using it more as a monitor than anything, and I stand at about 2 1/4 feet away from the monitor, and I still can see the lines.
Someone had changed the connecting VGA lead for an HDMI lead, and he couldn't see any lines anymore. That's why I have tried to change the lead for a hdmi one, but it's the same, no change.
As I said, some people have returned their monitor as faulty, and some others don't seem to see lines, and are far more preoccupied with the wrong 3D glasses being sent with the monitor and the purple ghosting those wrong glasses are creating, so my guess is that there might be a particular setting where the lines are not so obvious.
I have the wrong glasses, and I didn't notice any purple ghosting, but then again I wouldn't know what to look for as this is my first 3D experience.
I can't go back further, or I won't be able to read anything on screen.
They talk about thin lines appearing on the background screen in the troubleshooting part of the manual, but they ask to go to picture -> Screen -> adjust size, but I do not have "screen", I have something called picture wizard, it shows a series of images and you chose the one you like most between 2 pictures at the time, to have probably the picture that is the more to your taste. My preference obviously shows lines.

Have you checked page 60 in the manual?

Yep, been playing with all that, on my monitor, "screen" is greyed out, so I can't try to rectify the lines with it. I was hoping that someone would have found the holy grail of settings to not have those lines showing in white and light coloured background.
I have been using the picture wizard to set up the picture, and I like the result, except for the lines.
Last time I had the aspect ratio to just scan, which allowed me to get to the colour and tint settings, but it reverted to 16:9 and now those two settings are greyed out. Now only 16:9 and 4:3 are available, the rest are greyed out
