I posted a thread a few days ago about choosing a digital SLR. I've plumped for this one - can anyone beat £472.98 delivered? This is with standard lens kit 18-55mm.

Ok, I've bettered myself - I've found it for £463.95 + 2% Quidco (£9.28) = total price £454.67. If anyone can beat it, I'd love to hear from you!

Hello,
This is my first post so I hope I'm in the right place. I've just bought a Canon EOS 400D from Tesco direct. Their price is £399.97, but I used two voucher codes found on MSE forums (TDX-D34 and TDXR-DSJNNT) to get a £10 discount so I paid £389.97. No delivery charge because I'm fairly near one of the Tesco collection stores. Then with the current Canon promotion (http://canon2007promotions.onlinerebates.com/) I will be able to reclaim £50, so final price will be £339.97. Also getting 399 clubcard points
. The Amazon price is currently £499, so in total a £160 saving. Hope this helps someone! 0 -

I ordered one of these this afternoon, having deliberated over the Nikon D40. The Canon at £499 RRP was out of my price range, even though a better camera. I nipped into my local Jessops in an attempt to haggle over their price, but they promptly informed me that they had heard about the deal and said that Tesco Direct had sold out. I reckon it was just a ploy by Jessops to get me to buy from them, because there was stock at Tesco this morning and when I got home mid-afternoon there were still some cameras left!
Anyway, I did exactly as described above. The voucher codes worked, plus a further £6.81 saving by going through Quidco. A great bargain and a camera that's better and cheaper than the Nikon D40!0 -

I can't see it on Tesco Direct for £399.99! It's showing £499.99 and out of stock! Think I'll go for Amazon, but should I get the body only and get the Tamron AF 55-200mm lens for £75?

Wow. I got mine back in November for £479 when the listed price was £499 from Jessops.
Jessops had a pricematch offer for any UK website which was advertised in a photography magazine. I went into the store and they told me straight out that they didn't pricematch so I showed them the advert from the most recent issue (only been out for a few days) and they still didnt want to do it. So after creating a fuss and getting the number for their head office, I phoned them up and they said it was finished but they said since it was in the magazine (apparently the ad was taken out of most of the magazines except a few) they would honour. So I went back in and got my money off. Well worth fighting for it.

The Tesco offer went out of stock, yes it's £499 now. A 200mm lense is worth considering if your planning on doing lots of distance shots, if not you'd be better off with the standard lense. 55mm isn't much use for close up shots as it's not wide enough.0
