Caravan Insurance

Hi all,

Please can anybody help with getting insurance for a Caravan? Currently it is included with the insurance for the buildings/contents/car etc and the premium is over £750 in total. I am sure that this can be got cheaper but the caravan seems to be the problem.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

You could try the Caravan Club, Caravan and Camping Club, Saga insurance, and I should imagine that most insurance companies would give you a quote.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

We insure ours with the Caravan Club. Have been with them for years.

Caravan Club has been OK for us for a good few years.

Another thing to watch out for (but unfortunately I can't remember the details at the moment!) is what happens if you're away from home and your caravan damages someone else's property. Normally if the caravan is hooked up to the car then your car insurance will cover (but you have to check to be sure), but if it's not hooked up it can be down to your caravan insurance. e.g. If it runs away while parked on a hill for instance. And if it breaks away from the car while towing it can get complicated. Pretty sure the CC insurance covers all eventualities where not covered by car insurance, but I doubt your home insurance would. But like I say, I can't remember all the details.

We are with the Caravan Club too. Go to https://www.ukcs.co.uk and you can find more about companies who insure caravans, but avoid E&L.

  • Hi

I have just insured mine with https://www.caravanwise.co.uk They better than all
other quotes I received. But there are so many to trawl through.

I'm hoping that Martin could give us caravaners some direction with this...
