    By the sound of it the clutch isn't disengaging, this might be release bearing but is much more likely to be external operating mechanism, hydraulic or cable which happily is likely much cheap to fix. Did you mechanic look at it or was it an over the phone diagnosis? Does the pedal feel normal?
