Timeshare company gone.....

I hope someone can help me!
We were sold a Timeshare (I know stupid is not the word for us) in Tenerife in 2008. We know the company is out of business and have been having phone calls regarding getting our money back.
My husband feels it cannot happen and our money is gone but under Consumer Rights I think we have a chance.
The latest lady to call says she will get our money but she of course wants £425 or so, up front and will recover our credit card deposit and final payment too!
Can anyone help me in my quest?

Nope. And neither can the people who are calling you. DO NOT give them any money or your card details.
If the company is no longer in business, call your card issuer and trading standards for more advice.0 -
Call the credit card customer services and ask to initiate a s75 chargeback for the whole cost of the timeshare. Even if you only paid the deposit on the credit card, they are still jointly liable to you.
Do not pay anyone to do this for you, the £425 will be gone quicker than the timeshare.0 -
It shows just how much faith the person calling up has of getting your money back if they want an upfront fee. I would not be in the least surprised if it is the timeshare seller's brother coming back for another bite.
UK consumer rights probably won't help if you signed the contract overseas, but the credit card side *might* help, depends a bit how the deal was structured (for instance if it was a cash advance a la paypal or a real CC merchant account).
Good luck!!0
