And if they do what wotsthat is suggesting, and cut back at the same time, it's 6 years off the saving target.....woop!

That also assumes that you are correct in saying 'normal' working people simply could not save more than £50/ month. Even you can't really believe this - or does normal only include those on close to minimum wage?

If you can only put aside £50-£100 now then you cannot afford a mortgage if rates go up even slightly. Is it already so ingrained in the mentality of the population that these mortgage rates are here to stay?

Of course, I don't expect Devon or DpchMoron to understand that given the intelligence they show day by day on this forum.

Ouch, someone's still hurting after being exposed as a fake financial advisor. That must be incredibly embarrassing for you.

Did you learn about mortgage interest rates on MSE?

I agree with you, which is why I said there will always be (at least in my lifetime) a rich vs poor divide when it comes to home ownership.

There are still plenty of people who can manage to save a deposit in less than 13 years (lol) but are choosing to spend instead. It's beyond disillusioned to pretend they don't exist.

I'm not pretending they don't exist. But it's a very small sub section of people you appear to be concentrating on.

You came up with the ground breaking discovery that: Rich people will own more stuff and poor people will own less stuff.

Watch out Ms Lagarde, DpchMoron has put in a massive claim for your job. William Hill have just suspended betting on the Nobel Prize for Economics as well.

Stick to economics. You couldn't expose Gary Glitter on a playground.

Firstly, it's 3 years since mortgage rates were super low (2009 http://www.houseprices.uk.net/graphs/ - change to mortgage rates). But also Probably? Up To? Please, be more precise.

Mortgages generally last for 25 years as well.
