Top toBottom Tractor Run.

The Top to Bottom Tractor Run is an event which will test man and vintage machinery as they travel the length of the country raising money for a children’s cancer unit. I’m Fred Sullivan, Virgin Trains driver, and towards the latter end of 2010 my youngest son was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma andtreatment started at The Christie Hospital in Jan 2011. It’s been 18 months now and we’re stillfighting the disease with no end in sight for the immediate future.

After visiting the various clinics and units at The Christie,seeing the dedication of the staff, the treatments and the care that Aaron was getting I, with the help of colleagues and friends, decided to drive a 1955 vintage Ferguson tractor from John O Groats to Lands End to raise money for the Young Oncology Unit where Aaron is being treated. The fundraisers from the Train of Hope have kindly offered to come on board and this has been a great boost to thefundraising. Driver John Young purchased a 1954 Ferguson guest tractor which we willtake along with us for anyone who would like to drive one of the event stages.

We start our epic journey at John O’ Groats on the 10thof Sept. and hope to finish the trip 2 weeks later at Lands End on the 23rdof Sept. it is with deep regret that I inform you. 19 year old Aaron lost his battle on Thursday night to cancer.
