Marking Forums Read

When I click on Forum Tools > Mark This Forum Read in any forum, the threads get marked as read as expected, but after closing the browser session and opening another the threads are marked 'unread' again. The only way I've found to permanently mark threads as read is to go to the forum index page and use Mark All Forums Read link on the quick links menu, which is a PITA.
This same issue happens on more than one computer and with different browsers. I have also tested doing the same on a different site that uses the same forum software, and it works as I'd expect.
Any thoughts?

Just found the same, using Chrome on Win 7. Never use it myself though. Maybe it's a glitch they've inadvertently introduced?

I get something even weirder on occasion - everything gets marked as read the instant I get here via an external link. Somewhat annoying if you're trying to keep an eye on threads you've posted in previously.

I've found the MSE team very good recently at replying to queries such as this when posted in the Site Feedback forum0

FWIW, mine seem to 'mark as read' automatically after a few hours. This is fine by me.
A few weeks ago, they seemed to 'mark as read' almost immediately, so, when you went to page 2 it said they were all read even though they weren't!
Seems perfect for my requirements now!
