Buying a used van from dealer - do we haggle?? best time to buy??
Hi,
Need some advice. We are upgrading OH's van. He is self employed and needs something larger. We are therefore looking at spending quite abit on a 3 year old nearly new van.
Do we need to haggle over the advertised price and if so by how much?? We have a part ex, but are quite happy to sell that ourselves.
Just wanted some advice form anyone in the trade as to best ways of doing this, as we are finding alot of differences in price for same type of van.
Thanks

Are you looking for a 3year old van, or a nearly new one - not sure if you meant 2 options, or if you mean 3year old, is nearly new, for you!!
If you're after 3year old, you'll find a pretty good selection, 'cos plenty of lease deals expire at 36months, thereabouts.
Give us an idea of the models you have in mind, budget & what your expectations are, milege wise & I'll let you know whats about.

Yes, sorry, we are looking for a volkswagen transporter about 04 onwards.
Under 40,000 milesfor about 7-8000 + VAT
OH has looked at a Vauxhall vivaro at a very good price, 55 reg £6995 +VAT with 38,000. Which we are considering but would prefer a transporter.
Obviously cheapest van with low mileage and as new as we can afford.0 -
You'll not find a huge choice on VW, not too many 'bargains' either, as they do hold their £$£$ well.
You will need to make sure of the actual model & spec you're looking at, 'cos quite oftem special editions come along & are either improved trim level, or in the case of ex daily rental fleets, down spec isn't uncommon.
http://www.commercialauctionview.co.uk gets you stock availability (not prices) in British Car Auctions sites, UK wide.

Just did a search with Manheim Auction and they have 11 Volkswagen transporters ranging from 2006 to 2000 various mileages, if you need more info please email me.0
