"It's like riding a bike"

We've been thinking about getting bikes in an effort to get off the couch and get fit.

Problem is, he wants mountain bikes and I want a tandem. :rotfl:
I need to work on my laziness.
OP, go for it, just get one with a nice big padded seat. Unless you have a nice big padded seat of your own already.

it surely is as easy to ride again as it is to fall off:D
ummmm only problem I had was the sore  bits after 30 mins on bike
and I went from bus/walking to bike everywhere so I was in the saddle for long times. sometimes I walked with bike rather than get on it again that day
same as riding a horse always remember:)63 mortgage payments to go.

In my case it was absolutely NOT like riding a bike and the same can also be said of ice skating

You'll not have forgotten how to balance properly. A few trips round the block and you'll be as skilled as you ever were.
However, you might find the traffic alarming until you gain your confidence.
Oh, and your bum will be agony for a few days until you get used to the saddle again

Oh dear. I shan't be gaily jumping on in my favourite summer dress then.
I am actually quite challenged when it comes to coordination, and FatVonD's comment about ice skating struck a chord as I always take ages to regain any semblence of grace when returning to the ice. And this is after having three terms of ice skating lessons when at school! Most girls only required a term. Lol.
I wonder if I should get some elbow and knee pads, or is that just OTT?0 -

I am happy to read all the helpful replies you have had, OP, as I am also thinking of getting a bike, and my last bike was a Chopper!!
Much huffing and puffing to come, I think! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Happy cycling!

Haha, I never got the hang of riding a bike. No sense of balance. My Dutch friends laugh whenever I have to try to get on the backs of their bikes when I visit them
I had a granny asking me once if I needed help. Epic fail 0 -
No change from my normally eccentric appearance, then.

My cousin fell off the back of a Chopper back in the early 80s and burst his liver.
