DLR penalty fare appeal denied
I had to pay penalty fare for travelling without a valid ticket on DLR last week. I had a valid monthly ticket but forgot to pick it up in a hurry while I was leaving from work. I was caught as soon as the dlr left from canary wharf, I paid the penalty and had to go back and collect my ticket from office to carry on with my journey.
I paid up straight away, coz the ticketing officer said I can claim it back as soon as I make an appeal showing my valid ticket.
But today I've recieved a letter from IAS saying I failed to show a valid ticket hence no money back. I've attached my id card copy of valid ticket and the original appeal form. and expained everything in a letter
I don't understand what went wrong. If someone can point me tothe right direction please. They have said that I can appeal against this but I need to gather further evidence before I go forward hence I'm here for your valued opinion.

It seems that TfL have taken the easy option here and decided to reject your appeal on the ground of 'you failed to show a valid ticket' which unfortunately is correct. One would have hoped that TfL would have shown a bit of discretion and upheld your appeal on you proving your season ticket like what a number of Train Companies do.I don't understand what went wrong.
What to do now, me personally, as you have paid the penalty fare would take it on the chin and move on. However, if you do fancy a bit of hassle and a runaround or two, then you could try writing to Passenger Focus to see what they say, if you do this then enclose a copy back to IRCAS.
Also you could repost on one or both of the following forums, both are as good as each other for helping people but the first one is more specialist website for Penalty fares, appeals & ticket problems.
