Inheritance tax - where to get advice?

Hello peeps,

The old grandad wants to give me his house - a grand pile in bucks that me and the strife couldnt afford if our salaries tripled.

Apparentley though, if you gift a house to someone, they will still be liable for IHT unless full market rent is payed. I cant for shame take his house and his money.

Obviously I have loads of questions about this and have dreamed up a million loop-holes, but then I'll bet Brown has too... and closed them.

So, where to get decent advice on IHT

    My understanding is that if your grandfather gifts you the house and he continued to live in the house then yes he would have to pay the full market rent. However could you get around this by you handing him back the rent each month in cash or pay some of his bills for him so effectively he wouldn't be paying rent? (The only downside I can think of is that you would be liable for the tax the 'rental' income would attract)

    If your grandfather wasn't going to live in the property then I always thought that if your grandfather was to survive 7 years after the gift then the gift wouldn't be liable to IHT but if he didn't then IHT would be payable abet on a sliding scale.
