Hi, Have a few questions! looking to replace kitchen, have read over lots of the kitchen posts on here, plus the views on German units. I've had an online quote for Hacker classic units and wonder if anyone has these units and can comment on what they are like as I haven't seen them in real life, plus I see the classic range is the lower of the 3 ranges they do. Also does anyone have white gloss units - are they difficult to keep clean/show up every smudge etc.(have kids and dog) I didn't really want white but the price I got seems to be a good buy! thanks for any comments/help.

Hi Cherrydiva
Welcome to the forum.
My best advice would be seek out a bricks & mortar kitchen specialist doing Hacker near you, be honest with them ,take in the plan and the online quote you have and see what they can do. I am sure they would be able to match the equivalent online price and may also be able to improve the design and give more informed advice.
Good luck
CK
I would also like to mention there are many German kitchen brands available and many varied places to buy them from in the UK.0 -
Hi cherrydiva
Regards your question on the Hacker units, the classic is the basic range from Hacker. Units aren't bad for the money, but they are basic. The door itself is likely to be a vinyl wrapped door, which I would avoid if possible - particularly with pets around (worse if its a large dog).
Of all gloss colour, whites and creams are more forgiving in terms of showing marks and smears. White kitchens can look sterile if not properly accessorised so you may want to consider a cream tone for a homely look.
Its very unlikely you dont have a Hacker dealer around you, so try and find someone local. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thank you both for taking time to reply. All the brochure says is door is laminate. There is just too much choice and info out there for kitchens which makes it so hard to choose! I will see if anywhere nearby to look at the units.
Does anyone know a price guide for Hacker classic units so I can check whether the quote I have is good.0 -
I had a white gloss kitchen in my last house (Magnet) and it was a dream to keep clean and smear free. I think it's what I'm going to go for again once my current sale and purchase has gone through. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

I've been looking at Hacker kitchens myself. There are only a few slight differences between the classic range and the "systemat" which is the next range up. If I were you I'd look at the lacquered doors rather than vinyl wrapped. Lacquered (spray painted) doors, have a nicer, smoother finish. Also, you might want to consider matt lacquered doors, which are a bit different and are more forgiving when it comes to fingerprints etc.0

From a price perspective a gloss laminate or acrylic will be cheaper than a gloss lacquer. If budget permits, get the gloss lacquered door. We’ve had to remove your signature. thanks for the door info, more things to think about! Sounds like I should find a showroom to see some doors in real life to compare.0
