But don't like the light of most. Seems very white and not as warm as 'regular' bulbs'

Netto! They are 79p each and you can get them in the equivalent brightness of 60w and 100w bulbs. I have got them all over and haven't noticed the difference at all. :j
I am looking at them now and they are giving out a normal, warm glow, not a harsh halogen type white light.

Shortly after posting, went to netto and see they are now 79p - still good, though. Must have been a local price offer/error - see ashli's post above. Luckily bought 20-odd at lower price.
I see Tesco are making a big thing of their 'own brand' range, but nothing is under a £1.xxCAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I'd suggest that before you buy a bulb you have a good look over the packaging and find what the colour temperature of the bulb is - most will have it written on the package somewhere.
Look for a description eg 'warm white', or if there's a colour temperature number then you want a colour temperature of ~2700K as that's 'warm'. As the colour temperature goes up the light gets whiter/bluer. If the colour temperature is a higher, say, 4000K then it's going to either daylight white or if higher still then it'll be a slightly bluey coloured light.0 -
Philips Genie bulbs will be 49p at John Lewis from tomorrow.0
