Accepted an offer - what happens now ???

Hi everyone
We put our house on the market 9 weeks ago and we have accepted an offer today :j
The buyers have a cash buyer purchasing thiers and we already own the house we are moving to, so i was wondering if anyone has any idea what will happen now ??
We have never sold before so im not sure what happens now or how long it will take.
Also do you think we should use the same solicitor we used when we purchased the house or should we use one recommended by the EA ?
Like i said we already own our new house and can move out asap ?
Any advice on what we can expect

Do not use the one recommended by the EA use your own they are only interested in the commission they will get by you using it.
Appoint your solicitor, let the EA know who it is then sit back!!0 -
Either do the conveyancing yourself (if you have no mortgage) or choose your own solicitor. Do not use the EA recommended one - he'll be paying the EA commission, and where do you think that money comes from.....?
Appoint conveyancer, wait for survey to be done, re-haggle over price, become impatient then..... move!0 -

Do i instrust the solicitor before the survey or after ??
I have no idea how long everything will take and i wasnt sure wether to find a solicitor before or after the survey.
I know its a stuipd question but does anyone have any idea how long things will take along the way ?

Ours took 9 weeks with 3 of us in the chain but it was over Christmas so that delayed thing
Your survey would tend to be through your mortgage provider anyway so speak to them first0 -
If you were happy with the solicitors you used before, I'd go with them. I'd suggest if you want a fairly quick transaction, that you keep on top of every step in the process. If you get a form to fill in from your solicitor, send it back straight away.
Don't assume no news is good news, ring the solicitor and estate agent regularly to make sure nothing is going wrong. It can be done in a few weeks, but it all depends on everyone working together so don't be afraid to pick up the phone and make a nuisance of yourself.0 -

Our sale (and purchase) went through in around nine weeks too.......there were five in our chain - our vendors had already moved out and we weren't getting a mortgage - but there was a delay when one of the solicitor's office burned down
....... Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

I instructed solicitors after I was happy with survey, im a cash buyer, the vendor will be cash buyers with the money I pay them, no other chain.
6 weeks since I instructed my conveyancer and nothing has happened yet, ie nothing received from the vendors solicitor unless it came today.0 -

Does anyone have a ballpark figure that it has cost them for just selling a property ?
How long does it normally take for the survey to be carried out ? and if the buyers do pull out :eek: does anyone have any idea how much i would have to pay the solisitor if he has started the process ?
Sorry for all the questions, im just a bit hopeless at this, and we would accept the offer the week that i am on holiday from work and my hubbie has just left for a few days working away.
I think i will give the EA a call today too, i dont mind chaseing them up

Our surveyor looked to carry out the survey within two working days (assuming they can get the relevant access to the property), and provide the report within the two working days following - so should all be wrapped up within a week (delayed here because of the double bank holiday).
I think the answer to your second question will depend on the solicitors you use, but you can always ask them this question - we've chosen a "no completion, no fee" solicitor on a fixed fee.You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0
