NHS Redundancy

Options
I work for the NHS at present but am being made redundant soon. I have been told I cannot work for the NHS again without a months gap. Does anyone know if thats for any NHS job in any area of the country or just in the area that you have worked?

Many thanks in advance!

IIRC it applies to any NHS trust.
However don't let it put you off applying, a month is usually about the time a lot of applicants need as a notice period to leave their jobs.
Good luck in finding a new job!

If you do wish to stay in the NHS, I would try to get a job before being made redundant. Remember that anyone who is "at risk" will take priority over an external candidate, and by leaving you will fall into the latter category.

At what rate is your Trust paying you redundancy. i beleive it should be a month for every years service up to a maximum of 24 months. The first £30,000 will be tax free.

If you are accepting a MARS i presume it will be half of the normal offer.

Our Trust has only offered the MARS

Trust are paying a month but not sure when our leaving date will be. Nothing seems very well organised I'm afraid!
If I applied for BANK would the month still apply?
Thanks for the replies. What does MARS mean?

    Thanks again.

You can work for the NHS within a month, however you will have to give all the redundancy pay back. I asked our HR department what would happen if you had spent it all and their response was that they would probably have to come to a monthly arrangement over repayment

Working as bank staff would still not be permissible for a month if you wanted to retain your redundancy pay.
