Advice needed re:camping at haven

Have booked a 3 night stay at haven golden sands mid July for our family of 6. We have a 10 berth tent and have paid for an electric pitch 8.2 x 8.2 metres. My brother is now interested in coming with us as he cannot afford a break this year (there are 4 of them) but obviously I will only have 6 haven passes. My dilemma is, if I explain to haven there are now more people in my party will they issue 4 more passes (the tent is large enough to accomodate them) or if I bought them along but they didnt use the facilities would they be noticed by the staff coming and going from the tent and therefore would I get into trouble? Any advice please :)

I presume that they will issue 4 more passes but will charge you for them.

You really need to either ring them and ask them or look on your terms and conditions.

Presumably you will have been charged the 6 person rate, another 4 is a lot.

Health and Safety issues come to mind here, say if there was a fire, they need to know who is on site.

I wouldnt risk it, ask your brother to pay the extra, its still going to be a cheap family holiday for him.

Dont forget to lay down ground rules before you go. IE cooking, buyng food etc.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Oh dear have just searched as if I was gonna book again to check the difference in price with my brother and his family (this would mean 10 of us, but tent is also 10 berth ) but it says maximum number in party can only be 8

Even though you have a ten berth tent I would have thought it would all be a bit cosy and you might actually want your own space. Could your brother not buy a cheap tent and book their own pitch?

Haven are fairly keen on rules and they do have Wardens who keep an eye on the camping areas. Obviously it depends on how busy it is but I would be worried about them finding out and getting kicked off the site which would be a complete disaster!

The other possibility is adding a pup tent to your pitch, Haven usually only charge a few pounds for this. Then again I think this could only sleep two people so it might not help.

I don't think they will notice how many are in your tent BUT you will not all be able to go swimming etc together as you need to show passes....

Also they ask for some ID to show you are staying on site as you drive through the barrier ie booking letter .....so you need to think about how your brothers family is going to drive on and off site..

Pup tent's the way to go.

We went to Haven on the IOW (quite a few years back, I must admit). We had an 8 berth tent, which was like a marquee, but we also booked 2 pup tents for the kids (girls and boys). We arrived to a pretty much empty field and set up a tent village in one corner.

There was no extra charge at that time (though maybe they've got wise now) so the whole week only cost us around £50. My BIL had visited the same site the week before and paid over £400 for one of their wooden cabins.
