If you have a maxtor/seagate or WD drive, they have their own non trial versions of acronis free on their website
or this works on any

2 internal drives will cost more to run than one, and be noisier, and slower - may as well get one big one, and then consider external usb for backup!!

Further to my earlier post, I've just noticed that the trial version of Acronis no longer allows cloning of HDD's.
However, there is another program called Bounceback that also allows a trial version to be downloaded, and this program will allow cloning.
I've used it twice and it does a good job and is very easy to use.

I've tried the Seagate Discwizard that Closed mentioned and didn't have much joy with it. (It kept asking for a reboot but never cloned the HDD), but It's more than possible that I had a glitch with the downloaded program.0 -
Macrium Reflect free edition does full imaging, and works very well

hi norman, sorry i havent read all the replies, but i would suggest looking at a portable drive - store your family photos on that, they are quite cheap. they take up less room then a photo book, and you can plug them into a pc, laptop, tv, dvd player(if has usb port), games console etc to view the photos any time / any place.
you currently only have 80gig of space which is quite small, but doesnt sound like you use or need more for your needs.
plus - if you get a 2 tb drive and store all your photos on it - what happens if that drive fails, or you get a computer virus or someone accidendlywipes the harddrive - at least with a portable drive its unlikely to be used as heavily as a pc, plus you could also look at a online storage service with free storage to backup your files further?0 -
A sata (internal) drive is really easy to install. I really would recommend doing so. Please have a read up before doing so. It is easy, but just so you know what to plug into where.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

I recently signed up to Google Drive. I was shocked that it took 15 hours to transfer 55 photos and 3 video clips (2GB in total). I think that put me off cloud storage!
Thank you both for the replies.0 -
