My son has a 4GB Xbox 360 slim console, it's about 1 year old and I bought it new.
His headsets keep breaking on him. They are fine for a few days sometimes weeks, and then all of a sudden he says he cannot hear things through the earphones, only through the TV.

I must have bought about 6 lots, and all have developed the same problem. He does look after them, and doesn't slam them about or anything.

He started with these and we had about 4 lots bought from both GAME instore, and Argos.

Then he tried these -

..and the latest pair are these (same problem after about 1 weeks usage) -

Can anyone suggest why this is happening, I thought he'd be ok with turtle beaches as they are a good make.
It's almost like the earphones are blowing or something, but nothing 'happens', they just stop working.
Could it be his console making this happen?

    Hi,

Have you tried using them in a different device?

I got my son No 2 to try the latest ones after they 'broke' - he has an older xbox elite and he couldn't hear anything either.
Son 2 has the £17.99 turtle beaches, and has had them about 1 year with no problems.
This is what makes me think it's son 1's xbox?

I havent tried them in enything else.

our youngest goes through headsets around 4:1 compared to our oldest. We buy our oldest £3-4 ones from amazon and they last him. We tried more expensive ones for our youngest, and they only just lasted as long as the cheapies.

You just have to accept that some kids don't look after them as well as others...our youngest drops, twists, etc. - you name it, he does it, and then wonders why they don't last....

solution - buy several pairs of cheapies from amazon for £3-4 each, and you can keep a spare set handy when the next one goes.
