Removals Insurance

Hi,

Does anyone know of any good temporary insurance policies that will insure my contents while they are in transit (we're moving ourselves with a borrowed van).

I phoned my current contents insurer (Halifax) and the insurer of the new property (Co-Op) and neither of them will insure it in transit unless it is a professional removals company.

I've done this in the past when my policy was with Barclays who simply charged me an extra £20 to cover the days moving.

Thanks

Sounds a risky policy for any company to offer. Given the risk of claims, I'd have thought they would need to charge a hefty premium (much more than £20) to make it a viable business offering. Either that, or the excess would need to be huge.

One of the benefits of professional movers is that you have their insurance to fall back on.

I might risk it then. We're not moving far (about 8 miles) and the old place is rented furnished, so we're not moving much furniture really.

Just make sure you wrap up your glasses and crockery very carefully!

    Hope the move goes well.
