zooplus.co.uk any good?

Hi Everyone,

I have just added a puppy to my brood of 4 cats so obviously looking at getting the best value for food, litter etc. Between myself, my brother and my parents we have 11 cats and the puppy so I was looking at bulk buying and splitting the costs between all of us.

Has anyone used zooplus? the reviews dont seem to be great but they seem to be mostly on cages, toys etc as opposed to food?

Any reviews much appreciated

Val

I've used them a lot for natural dog treats and never really had any problems. Find they're a bit stingier with their special offers lately though so haven't ordered in a while, found it cheaper to buy bulk boxes off Ebay.

I place 3 - 4 orders per month with them and have done for the last year or two.

Pros: good prices; food and other items available there that aren't elsewhere; can go through Top Cashback when ordering - 5% cash back; fast delivery (3 - 4 business days after ordering, despite coming from Germany!); free delivery if spend over £19; 5% off all orders over £75 (use code STOCK-UP); great customer service IME when things go wrong; Zooplus reward points which you can save up for good things - I recently got a cat hammock with my points which 3 of my 5 cats love (cost £20-odd if bought); a fairly good number of special offers - I've had lots of free toys and accessories with food and litter, though I always buy in the large sizes. I'm also in their savings plan which for a £10 one-off fee means I get £5 off every order for 3 years, though I'm not sure how widespread this is.

Cons: Their packaging is a bit dodgy sometimes which can result in goods sometimes getting damaged in transit. Two things about this, though: whenever this has happened to me, and I've contacted customer services, the problem has been rectified immediately with either a refund or discount off next order. Secondly, they seem to seriously want to address this - on every order confirmation email there is a choice of 3 links for you to click when you get your order to give feedback on the condition of the goods: flawless, not flawless but ok, or damaged.

The only other slight niggle with them is that they are little slow to pay the Cashback, but I've always had it in the end, so no biggie for me personally ;)

I use them for all my cat food and litter, never had any problems.

I use them all the time for natural dog treats as they supply things you simply can't get elsewhere in this country. They do good cashback on Quidco and Topcashback so I always go via there when ordering. I've never had a problem with any orders.

  • Yup a thumbs up from me but I would say check other retailers for prices as you can sometimes find better eg:

Cabrio carrier - currently on offer @ £29.90 with a normal price of £49.90
but another retailer has it for on offer @ £24.78 but with a much lower usual price of £36.99 (which is nearly £13 cheaper than Zoo+ usual price!)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

I agree - I always check special offers on other sites and also order from Pet Supermarket, MedicAnimal and Pets at Home occasionally.

Brilliant, Thanks everyone for your replies. Its helped me decide. To be honest I always price check anyway drives my boyfriend bananas but its better for me!
  • TBH Val, I rarely buy from the same place twice in a row - I have a list of several that I'll buy from and check all before buying each time.

Offers come on / go off all the time - I'd not bought from one in particular for ages (prices were always just that few quid more than others) and they ended up sending me a £10 off next purchase - which meant they were cheaper the next time.

    Others I use regularly are

    Pet Planet
    Medicanimal
Vet UK (has some really good prices on food just now)
    Animed Direct
    Viovet
    Pets at Home
    ETA Seapets

(will probably think of a few more!) Told ya!

    Ohhhhh and we need pics!

Order from them all the time,. deliveries seem to take long time (to me anyway) but never had any problems.
  • Actually (and having just read my latest Zoo+ offers email which has literally just arrived) - one thing that really annoys me, is that instead of having great deals on food, they'll do a free toy (or something) with the bag - personally I'd rather have a few quid off and it's only ever on selected types (eg not the full Royal Canin range) and the ones I get are never in the offer ..... which then puts me off ordering as I think "if they get a toy (or whatever) why the beep shouldn't I get one!"

Sorry .... don't know if it's just me that it annoys?
