Switching bank accounts for reward

Does anyone know how can I set up a couple of direct debits on my backup current account to take advantage of Halifax £100 offer for switching bank accounts? Would standing order count as a direct debit or it has to be a direct debit?

Thanks

A standing order, as you point out isnt a DD and so wouldnt count unless the T&Cs state that it can be a DD or SO.

How you would normally do it is simply change a couple of DD's that have a low fixed amount taken and just transfer or leave the necessary funds to cover those DDs monthly - membership fees, subscriptions, TV license etc are all fairly obvious choices

Thanks InsideInsurance. Would give a call to backup bank account people and see if they can do it.

A quick and easy DD is PayPal. Add the account to a paypal account and they will usually ask you to verify the bank account by setting up a DD and depositing a couple of pence into it.

I have usually done this and set up a SO to pass the switch 2 payment clause. Also another quick one I have done in the past is free or low cost magazine trails by DD just to get the DD transferred.
