help with bibliography

I have done an assignment on 'Jane Eyre' which was written in 1847. How do
I include when the book was originally written and include the date when my book was reprinted in 1999? My bibliography is below thanks

Bronte Charlotte, Jane Eyre, Wordsworth Editions, Mackays of Chatham plc, 1999

i'd always go back to the original publication date - it's not like a text book which usually has different editions where the content is changed, so 1847 is the original date that that text was published.

but then i'd always do: author (date) title publisher; location - coming from a science background, so you'll want advice from someone closer to your field!!

your format seems right but you should have the city of publication in there (99% of the time is london) and you could try (reprinted) 1999. my friend is doing her thesis on jane eyre so if you can wait till tomorrow i will ask her... x

  • Bear in mind different universities use different referencing standards. The uni I'm at now uses a derivative of the Harvard referencing system. The uni I did my first degree at used the Oxford referencing system for my course and a different version of the same basic idea on others. They're all different and as referencing is always included in marks, you may be best off e-mailing a tutor or that annoying individual on your course who always knows everything!
