Hello!
First post in this part of the forum so hello all and thank you for your help in advance!
My garlic is ready to dig up and I have read that ideally it is dug up in a dry spell. However, we all know what the weather is like at the moment and with no dry spell forecast, can I dig it up in wet weather??
I havn't grown garlic before, so I am completely new to this!

Thank you! :)

Doesn't really matter what the soil is like - it is to do with being able to spread the garlic out somewhere to dry off. If you have somewhere you can do that out of the rain - you'll be OK.

Seems very early to be lifting though - mine were planted in the autumn and I think will be another 2 or 3 weeks yet before they are lifted.

Where do you live and what variety did you grow? Mine won't be ready to lift till August, though I do live in Scotland and grow a northern adapted variety. You can tell they're ready to lift when the stalk dries up and looks yellow and papery.

Perhaps I will leave it a few more weeks. I would say the stalk is about 1/2 yellow at the moment. I live in the channel islands so perhaps a few degrees warmer but would rather not lift them too early. The variety was a type of elephant garlic from b&q not sure of specific name.
    Thanks for your help!
