Did you inform Swiftcover that you've had insurance cancelled? If not you better now before you get a repeat of these circumstances and get another policy cancelled by an insurer for non-disclosure0

As far as I see it, I made a silly mistake on an insurance form and its cost me £300, time and stress. I work in a sales environment myself and I know that I wouldnt dream of treating a customer in such a way. If I did I 'd lose customers and ultimately my job. Why should it be different for an isurance company?0

Keep that email VERY safe as Swiftcover's website/policy explicitly states you must never have had insurance cancelled0

Well I got an e-mail back from them today saying that I'm due a refund of just under £300. There's no breakdown of costs but they have said that the admin charge is £75. I paid just under £600 and I'd had less than 2 months cover. Part of this was breakdown cover so I'm not sure if this is something they don't refund. I'm not exactly happy with this but it's better than nothing and I'm tempted to just take the money and forget this poor excuse for a company existed.
Does the email confirm that you (rather than they) cancelled the policy?
On the charges side, your refund looks about £100 light, ask them for a breakdown.0 -

Well it needn't have - they offered to allow the mistake to be corrected for £76 didn't they.
And it was a letter, so you had time to consider your response, research the alternatives, and seek advice on the best action.
So on reflection..........Optimists see a glass half full

On reflection yes of course being ripped off for £76 is better than being ripped off for £300. At the time they demanded the extra money they only gave me 7 days to pay. I'd have been happy to pay the £26 extra for the policy but it was the £50 admin fee that I felt was excessive. I also lost all confidence and trust in 1st Central at this point.
The starting point to all this was being ran into when my car was stationary at a junction over 3 years ago. Apart from all the hassle that caused me at the time, I'm now going to be £300 down.
I'm in an industry where strangely enough you have to treat the customer well and be nice to them, imagine that!!0
