Does anyone one have a better idea of when the transfer of eligible accounts from Natwest to Santander is going to happen?and if out of curiosity do Santander also get the account histories? Ie if they have been well looked after do they get to see that or will it be in essence a start of a new account on transfer? Cheers

Not sure of the answers to your questions, but I think I have a more profound question. Namely with Spanish banks rumoured to be in trouble, should we be concerned with Santander?0

You signed up just to create some panic? The subject of Santander safety has been covered here umpteen times, e.g. in How safe is Santander? plus various other forum posts and discussions. There is nothing to worry about if you don't have more than £85K on deposit.
Regarding the OP's questions: the timescales are outlined on the RBS websiteThe sale is expected to complete during the second half of 2012 and customers can continue to use their local branches and existing products and services as they do now. When the sale is completed, the branches and any accounts included in the sale, will transfer to Santander.
You should assume that Santander will receive 100% of the history of the transferred accounts.0
