Machine is 8 years old just and from description of problem we gave at local shop it could well be the timer progammer that's caput. I am wondering if repair is a good option seeing that the part could be well over £100. Also thinkking what to get as repacement another Zanussi or another make. Always been happy with Z in the past. We are just two retirees, so do not have heavy loads to deal with.

You've done well 8 years! mine lasted 4 ! - we had a similar problem - the local repair shop said to try a programme you never use - and see if it still does it (a programme before your normal one) it worked on ours (kind of cleared itself - for a month or so) in the end we replaced it (if only I'd taken the expensive extended warranty - I really would have had my money's worth!! it was not the most reliable machine!)0

Have you looked at http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/ - you will find plenty of help and if you post your question there regarding the repair, I am sure you will get good advice0
