What annoys me about this payment charge is the fact that I didn't know about it til I queried it (I've been with BT for about 14 years and started paying online when I got Broadband 5 years ago). And what about pensioners that have always paid their bill cash and have no idea about the Payment Charge? I bet there's a lot of people out there who have dpn't realise.

I have *always* paid on time so it seems like an insult.

For those 14 years you would have been paying more if you didn't pay by DD. However up until recently the extra cost was hidden in the line rental, whereas now it's taken off the line rental and detailed separately.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • If companies could be relied upon to take the correct amount via DD then all would be fine, but these companies seem to do as they please, after my last argument with BT I rang and re-instated my DD and was told, yes sir that will come out of your account on the 5th... do you want monthly or quarterly?... monthly I replied, luckily I just checked my BT account on-line to see that they were just about to take the full quarterly amount from my acc tomorrow... the 25th!!, Result?.. cancel DD get charged the payment processing fee again!
Mind you, I cant complain, when I shop in Sainsburys I always give the girl on the till an extra £1 for lifting that heavy £20 note and putting it in the till... dont you?? LOL
Charges for supply/services should be inclusive full stop! if companies wish to accept different payment options that is up to them, The currency in the UK is the £ .. consumers should not face a forfit for paying cash/online via the companies website.
Its funny how those that make the rules start flapping about airlines ect advertising a flight for £59 when in fact its usually £159 by the time there little charges have been added, but allow these companies to have access to an easy money maker the way they do
All companies should calculate their cost to provide the service/goods they are supplying (and ALL likely costs in doing so) from the time they supply to the time they recieve the charge into their banks, and that is the price they should advertise.. no ifs no buts!
